She is a hiker\, forager\, and skier and loves exploring the outdoors in her native Midwest. Her picture book Three Scoops and a Fig\, illustrated by Susan Kathleen Hartung\, was selected for Bank Street College's Best Books List and the Kansas State Reading List.
