About the book:
Of Frank Lloyd Wright's 532 completed projects, the highest concentration worldwide exists in Oak Park, Illinois, where Wright's home and studio lies. Combining architectural history with human interest, explore 41 of the nearly 80 Frank Lloyd Wright-designed sites all within four hours of Chicago. Organized by region and covering sites built from 1889 to 1959, learn about each site's history, from its ownership and commission, to how materials were selected and the natural landscape were used.
About the author:
A widely published writer about architecture, design, and travel, Kristine Hansen's articles about Frank Lloyd Wright's biography and his design projects have appeared on ArchitecturalDigest.com, Dwell.com, CNTraveler.com and Realtor.com, and in Midwest Living Magazine and Milwaukee Magazine. She's also the author of Frank Lloyd Wright's Wisconsin: How America's Most Famous Architect Found Inspiration in His Home State (Globe Pequot Press, 2023). She frequently speaks at libraries and conferences about Frank Lloyd Wright's connections to Wisconsin and the Midwest and has appeared on NBC and NPR affiliates in Milwaukee. Hansen is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and lives in a 100-year-old bungalow. She's slept in many Wright-designed homes, visited many of his projects across the U.S. (as well as in Japan), and is acquainted with several stewards of Wright homes.
