Network Administrator

JOB SUMMARY:
Administers and supports the Company’s physical and virtual information systems.  Works to ensure network availability for all authorized users and administers the security of the Company’s data, software, and hardware.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains and administers physical and virtual computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Manages, optimizes, and maintains network infrastructure consisting of HP Aruba switches, Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewall, and Meraki wireless technologies.
  • Takes responsibility for data and information system security.  Plans, documents, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.  Designs, implements, and maintains cybersecurity technologies and initiatives for compliancy needs and requirements.
  • Operates master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
  • Maintains and administers employee workstations, both hardware and software, including setup of equipment and training.
  • Designs, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots Production facility networks and IT systems.
  • Provides Company server system support, maintenance, and configuration.
  • Recommends improvements to information systems and system security and assists with the procurement of new technologies and initiatives. 
  • Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  • Configures, monitors, and maintains Voice Over IP (VOIP), email applications, remote access, and virus protection software.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replaces defective components when necessary.
  • Reads technical manuals, confers with users, or conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or provide technical assistance and support.
  • Serves as first and second level desktop support for Company IT system users, via internal Help Desk.
  • Provide end-user training and support on IT systems, security, and other IT initiatives.
  • Proceeds with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and conformity to Quality System work instruction requirements that govern Information Technology operations.
  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through efficient organization and planning.
  • Supports and complies with safety initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Accurately completes all required documentation.
  • Meets attendance policy requirements.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Two-year Associate degree in Information Technology and five years of related computer system experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience working with, but not limited to:  Microsoft 365, HP Aruba switches, Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls (or equivalent), Nutanix Datacenter, VMWare, Veeam, data encryption technology, system cybersecurity, certificate management, MFA, network policies as well as constructing, troubleshooting, and managing TCP/IP networks. NIST Security Framework knowledge desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.  Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other Company stakeholders.  All communications must be handled with professional expertise, meaning that they are complete and proper follow-through is provided. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Requires considerable initiative and decision-making judgment.  Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary, including the ability to interface with all levels of employees.  Must be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and assess priorities to meet deadlines, recognize workflow, and carefully plan short- and long-term projects.
