Hadley McCormack, a beautiful and talented young lady born and raised in Oconomowoc. A miracle as a baby, and a blessing to all who know and love her. Born on May 23, 2016, Hadley was born 15 weeks early, weighing only 1 lb 3 oz. Hadley was a patient at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin for almost 6 months. During that time, she faced many battles and a rollercoaster of diagnoses, treatments, and predictions about her survival. If Hadley proved anything during this time, it was that she was a FIGHTER! She beat the odds against poor blood flow, blood clots, potential loss of a limb, underdeveloped lungs, and infections. Hadley was, quite honestly, a miracle baby.
On the morning of January 8, 2023, Hadley was found unresponsive. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors found a very large brain tumor, the size of a hardball. The following day Hadley had surgery that lasted over 10 hours; doctors were able to remove 85-90% of the tumor was found to be malignant and fast-growing. A nightmare for her parents to hear about their only child.
Shortly after, Erin and Travis created a Facebook group called “Hope for Hadley and her Heroes” to give updates on Hadley – and her Army of Prayer Warriors have shown up to provide love and support through this group!
Hadley completed 30 rounds of radiation which shrunk the remaining tumor a bit, and on May 8th she began a clinical trial of an oral medication in hopes of wiping the remaining tumor out for good.
Unfortunately, on June 8th, Hadley received another unthinkable diagnosis – a second tumor. For now, Hadley is remaining on the trial medication and her family is hoping over time it will shrink her tumors. At this point, they just want her comfortable.
Please help us help Hadley. She is the sweetest child who would do anything for anyone.
“As we have traveled down this scary, unpredictable, roller coaster of a journey, we have been blessed to have so much love, support, and prayers, thanks to all of you.” – Erin and Travis McCormack
In one recent Hope for Hadley and her Heroes Facebook post, Travis described some of the things he and Erin will miss most; field trips, plays, school concerts, dances, boyfriends, driving, graduation, college, getting married, becoming grandparents, and all the day-to-day things that fill in the gaps. Thoughts that no parent should ever have to think about.
They’ve had some of their hardest days recently, and the McCormack’s could use some HOPE!
There will be plenty of fun at the Salon – it’s what Hadley wants us to do, continue to have fun!
