Ribbon Cutting / New Kayak Dock on La...
Description
The City of Oconomowoc Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department will unveil a new, accessible kayak launching dock on Fowler Lake with a ribbon cutting Saturday, June 22. The event is a celebration of creating more access for all to our Wisconsin waterways.
The connection continues a long relationship with the City of Oconomowoc and the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation as the annual Kayak 4 a Cure has been held from the launch area on Fowler Lake for a decade.
Event founder Jason Hall said Kayak 4 a Cure has generated more than $100,000 to support for work to find a cure to the paralysis of those who suffer from neurological disorders.
The dock will have a hoyer lift system to help people with mobility issues get in and out of the watercraft.
Kayak for a Cure launches from Fowler Lake each June. This year’s event will hit the water after the ribbon cutting. In years past, a temporary dock/lift system was installed over the weekend. However, after this year’s event the accessible launch will become a permanent fixture.
