Description
“Shrek The Musical JR.” is the musical adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film that follows everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, as he leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, the hilarious production offers a powerful message for the whole family.
The musical is directed and choreographed by Jackie Nuckels, with vocal direction by Silver Lake’s choir teacher Nolyn Kovacevich, and pit orchestra direction by Silver Lake’s band directors Jeff Thielke and Lily Freeman. The production features 54 students in the cast, 13 musicians in the pit, and technical support by 17 crew members.
“Shrek is a musical journey to a wacky fairytale world where ogres are heroes, kings are villains, and princesses are equal parts beautiful and quirky. Through hilarious dialogue and catchy songs, the story explores important themes like the value of friendship, the true meaning of beauty, and the noble quest we are all on to feel accepted just as we are. I promise if you come to this show, you will laugh until your
sides hurt and be blown away by these talented young actors and musicians,” said Nuckels.
